Tax Identification Number (TIN)

A Tax Identification Number (TIN) is the number that identifies a taxpayer to the tax authorities in Nigeria. Employers need their own number to register and remit PAYE, and each employee's number so that PAYE deducted is credited to the right person.

Collect every employee’s tax identification number before their first salary, and include it on remittance schedules and the employer’s annual return. Without it, an employee may find their tax was not credited when they apply for a tax clearance certificate.

Our onboarding checklist lists the tax and pension details to collect from new staff.
